
Yezhen (David) Li, Ph.D.

I am a social epidemiologist with a Ph.D. in Sociology and an M.A. in Statistics and Data Science from the University of Pennsylvania. ​​​Currently, I am a postdoctoral fellow at the College for Health, Community, and Policy, University of Texas at San Antonio.

My research centers on aging, health, social networks, and migration. Specifically, my ongoing projects focus on the following areas:

Longitudinal dynamics of informal care receipts and implications for older adults' health outcomes

Psychometric methods for measurements of later-life cognitive abilities

Social relationships and the health of marginalized populations, including immigrants and racialized minorities

I have published first-authored articles in the Journal of Gerontology: Social Sciences, Innovation in Aging, and Society and Mental Health. My work has been recognized with the 2025 Douglas Holmes Emerging Scholar Paper Award from the Gerontological Society of America.
Alongside my research, I have taught undergraduate courses in introductory sociology, social statistics, medical sociology, and the sociology of mental health.
